How to Fix RPC Error When the RPC Server is Unavailable

Have you gotten an RPC error lately? They look a little like this:

- "RPC Server is Unavailable"
- OR "The RPC Server is too busy to complete the task"
- Here's the best one, "Access denied"

VAIO

This is fun stuff. Unfortunately, an RPC error is one of the most common errors out there, and most of us don't even know what RPC is.
How to Fix RPC Error When the RPC Server is Unavailable
What is RPC?
RPC stands for "Remote Procedure Call." This probably still doesn't tell you much. Let's see if we can put this in non-technical language. RPC is the go between of your computer and server. This is what allows your computer to access a network.
RPC has two main parts to it: the client and the server. When the client (the program requesting something) sends a message to the server (the process that takes the order or performs the task), it is being asked to execute a certain procedure. The client waits for the server to process the call before resuming the execution.
Why Won't the RPC Server Work?
Usually, the RPC error pops up because there is some sort of miscommunication between the computer and the server. Most of the time, the wires get crossed somewhere due to Internet components that are not configured or activated. Sometimes it is just a matter of adjusting the Internet Firewalls or Proxy Server.
Quick RPC Error Fix
One way to investigate an RPC server error is to verify that you have enabled the DCOM Tunneling is enabled and not being blocked by any third party Internet Security programs such as AVG, Norton, McAfee, etc.
To do this:
1. Go to Start and Run
2. Type in DCOMCNFG
3. Click on Component Services
4. Click on Computers
5. In Computers, right click My Computer
6. Choose Properties
7. Go the Default Properties tab
8. Check the "Enable DCOM" tab
9. Go to the Default Protocols tab
10. Click Add
11. By the Protocol Sequence move the down arrow to Tunneling TCP/IP
12. Click OK
13. Click MoveUp button until Tunneling is at the top of the list
14. Now you may select SPX and Remove
15. Click OK or close the program out
16. Restart the computer
When You Need Help with the RPC Error
The RPC Error is such a common error, it seems like it should be easy to fix. However, the DCOM Tunneling fix is only the beginning of troubleshooting an RPC server error. The good news is that you really don't have to do anything when it comes to an RPC error if you maintain your computer with registry maintenance tools. Try researching the benefits of a registry cleaner to fix RPC errors.

Cell Phone Spyware

By now I'm sure you know what spyware is, and how it secretly sneaks onto your computer, and collects personal information. Did you know that there is even cell phone spyware now!

FlexiSPY is an 'activity logger' for mobile phones. That's another word for spyware. All activity such as sending and receiving SMS messages, call history, (incoming / outgoing), call duration, GPRS activity, and contact names in their address book that is associated to each SMS and call.

Sony

At least FlexiSPY is activity monitoring software that needs to be consciously installed by a Human, who knows EXACTLY what the software does. It does NOT self replicate, it does NOT pretend to be something it is not, and it ALWAYS requires conscious human action for instalation. Unfortunately this doesn't stop unethical people from sending the program to phones via a Bluetooth connection and trust that there are enough curious people to install it.

Cell Phone Spyware

FlexiSPY must be consciously installed on the device by a user who has physical possession of that device. How many times have you installed spyware thinking it was something else for your computer? I know I have! FlexiSpy sounds like the equivalent of a key logger on a computer.

FlexiSPY does not masquerade itself as something it is not, nor does it replicate itself as a virus would. But it is the beginning of something concerning. Spyware is making that "jump" to phones, and that really stinks. I guess it had to happen sooner or later. Just be weary of programs that you install on your phone, as the next one could be a troublemaker!

Cell Phone Spyware

Get rid of annoying and dangerous spyware and adware today with NoAdware. It is my top recommended spyware removal program.

They even offer a free download. You can learn more here.

Discount Lift Tickets - Learn What Colorado Ski Resorts Do Not Want You To Know!

How to get Discount lift tickets for Keystone Colorado, Breckenridge Colorado, Arapahoe Basin Colorado, Loveland Ski Area Colorado, Copper Mountain Colorado, Winter Park Colorado, Vail Colorado, Beaver Creek Colorado

Updated for the 2005-2006 ski season.

VAIO

Discount Lift Tickets in Colorado- All Colorado ski resorts make it difficult for anyone coming from out of state to get a great deal on lift tickets. Don't expect to get a great deal anywhere if you didn't start looking in late September or early October. As your Keystone Lodging provider, we can help, but WE DO NOT SELL LIFT TICKETS.

Discount Lift Tickets - Learn What Colorado Ski Resorts Do Not Want You To Know!

The most expensive way to ski is to buy your lift tickets at the ticket window without any coupons. The following information will help you find the best deal around no matter what time of year.

Colorado Ski Season Passes

If you are in Colorado in April, September or October, you can look into buying a season pass for Keystone, Breckenridge, and A-Basin. Both Loveland and Copper Mountain sometimes sell season passes into November. If you plan on skiing 5 or more days, a season pass to one of the areas ski resorts will more than pay for itself and is the cheapest way to go...even though you won't get to use it for the entire season.

:: Keystone :: Breckenridge :: A-Basin :: Vail :: Beaver Creek ::

Season passes are sold along the front range at places like Gart Sports, REI, and Christy Sports. Season passes for Keystone, Breckenridge and A-Basin usually cost around 9. A 2nd option is to pay slightly more and get 10 days at Vail or Beaver Creek added to that same pass. You MUST buy these in person, and you typically have to use it at least once before the holiday season, or it will become invalid for the rest of the year. These passes do have blackout dates during the holidays and during Presidents Day weekend usually, so make sure you read the fine print before purchasing these ski passes. If you're planning an early season trip (Before December 20th) AND a later prime ski season trip (January - April), this is by far the least expensive way to go. Best of all, once you get a pass that you have to buy in person, you can renew it over the web year after year.

:: Arapahoe Basin Only ::

This year, Arapahoe Basin is offering a season pass of their own. For the 2005-2006 ski season, these are only 9. This allows unlimited skiing at Arapahoe Basin, but also allows you to ski at Keystone or Breckenridge for 5 days. One of the 5 days can be used at either Vail or Beaver Creek. This is an awesome deal if you're coming out for a short trip of 5 days or more. Best of all, you can buy these over the phone and just pick them up at the base area of Arapahoe Basin. As always, get in on this deal EARLY. Passes are usually sold in September and October only. Check out the Arapahoe Basin Website for full details.

:: Copper Mountain :: Winter Park :: Mary Jane ::

Copper Mountain is offering season passes for the 2005-2006 ski season for only 9. You can buy these without being present, but you must submit a photo of yourself so they can print your pass. Add a few more dollars and you can ski Winter Park and Mary Jane too. However, Winter Park is a solid 1 hour drive from Summit County. Still, the skiing at Mary Jane is legendary and you won't be disappointed with your day excursion to the snowpack in the Fraser Valley of Colorado.

:: Loveland Ski Area ::

Lesser known by people from out-of state, Loveland is a very inexpensive option. You'll see Loveland Ski area on your way into Summit County on the East Portal of the Eisenhower Tunnel. The closest ski lodging to Loveland is in Keystone....only 15 miles away. Loveland offers season passes for 3. Being an independent ski resort, you can only ski at Loveland. Loveland is one of the highest ski resorts on North America and they are usually the first to open the ski season in North America in October. Check the webste for details. They have an outstanding variety of terrain and there are little or no crowds at any given time.

++++++++++++ Warning ++++++++++++

Do not EVER try to use a 4 pack or season pass that is not yours. There are extremely stiff penalties including large fines and possible jail time if you are caught. The lift operators WILL catch you. A free lift ride is simply not worth the consequences.

++++++++++++ Warning ++++++++++++

Colorado Ski Resort "Four Packs"

Another money-saving tip is to buy what is called a "4 pack" for your ski resort of choice. A "4 pack" is 4 days of skiing for any 1 person. Typically the ski resorts sell these early in the season, but have also been known to sell them again in late March or in April. Buying late in the season is ideal...unknown to many, April is usually the snowiest month in Colorado!

:: Keystone :: Breckenridge ::

For the Keystone and Breckenridge 4 packs, you must buy them in person and they are not transferrable. In previous years they have been transferrable until people started selling them for a profit on eBay. $ packs usually run about and are bought in the same fashion that a Season Pass is bought. The 4 packs do have blackout dates, so read the fine print carefully.

:: Copper Mountain :: Winter Park :: Mary Jane ::

Copper Mountain offers 4 packs for only and ARE transferrable. This deal usually is around for about a week and may have already passed. If so, you're still in luck...both Copper Mountain and Winter Park offer 4 packs for 0, which is still only per day. This offer expires on Dec 9th 2005, so jump on this quickly if you want to get in on the deal! There are usually rules and restrictions as to the dates you can use the 4 pack, so check the fine print carefully.

:: Loveland Ski Area ::

Loveland also offers a 4 pack as well for the 2005-2006 ski season. The 4 packs run only but are only available through November 21st 2005. There are no blackout dates on these 4 packs and can be used anytime during the 2005-2006 ski season at Loveland.

:: Aspen :: Snowmass ::

Okay, so these 2 resorts aren't really all that close to Summit County, but if you want to see what celebrities do during the winter in Colorado...try Aspen or Snowmass for a day. Cheap passes are available, but you have to get them in person. They are available up until November 20th, 2005 at select locations around the Colorado Front Range.

Other ways to get Discount Lift Tickets

Are you a member of the armed forces? Keystone has a special setup with any active duty military, Reservists, National Guard and dependents. Rocky Mountain Blue offers a Freedom Pass for only 9. This pass is good for unlimited skiing at Keystone or Arapahoe Basin. It can be purchased at military bases in colorado including Buckley AFB, Peterson AFB, Schriever AFB, F.E. Warren AFB, Fort Carson and the Air force Academy. You can purchase this anytime during the 2005-2006 ski season and it is good through closing day at Keystone. THIS IS THE BEST LIFT TICKET DEAL IN COLORADO.

Keystone Lift Tickets Sign up for a free Colorado Gem Card. These cards will give you discounts at other ski areas that are further away. The closest resort that accepts this card is Loveland Ski area, which is about 15 miles away right at the Eisenhower Tunnel on the Continental Divide.

Keystone Lift Tickets Know someone with a season pass? Season Pass holders usually can buy a lift ticket for you for a deeply discounted price of -. The number of times they can do this is limited.

Keystone Lift Tickets Don't forget eBay! Many times people will buy a package deal and not be able to use it. Sometimes it's a 4 pack, sometimes it's someone who has an inside track to the resort and is trying to make some money on the side. Either way, MAKE SURE you check the lift tickets carefully to make sure you know what you're getting. Search around and see what you can find!

Keystone Lift Tickets Buy an Entertainment book for the Denver area. These books are PACKED with ski coupons. We typically buy these books and keep them available for our guests to use. The coupons are for slightly discounted lift tickets. ( - off ticket window prices) There are also coupons for ski school.

Keystone Lift Tickets Buy your tickets on the front range in or around Denver. Go to any Safeway or King Soopers grocery stores, or ski and snowboard rental shop. They sell disount lift tickets for most ski areas.

Keystone Lift Tickets As your Keystone Lodging provider, just ask us and we'll do what we can to get you the right information you need or point you in the right direction to save you the most money given the time period of your visit. We typically keep a packet of coupons just for our guests use. When booking, please email or call us with your requests and we will mail coupons to you before you arrive. Coupons are first come first serve. These coupons usually come from Entertainment Books, and wherever else we can find them. We do not sell lift tickets.

BE CAREFUL - Some other lodging providers will entice you with a "package deal" saying that they will give you discounted lift tickets after your reserve your lodging...only to suddenly "run out" of the lift tickets after they have your money.

Discount Lift Tickets - Learn What Colorado Ski Resorts Do Not Want You To Know!

How to Install VoIP Internet Phone Service in Your Home

Did you know that internet phone service is so easy to install, that literally "anyone" can do it? Many people shy away from getting VoIP service because they think they are not "technical" enough to install it themselves. Nothing could be further from the truth! If you can look at pictures and follow a few simple instructions, you can install VoIP internet phone service and take advantage of the tremendous cost savings associated with this great technology!

VoIP phone service looks and feels just like traditional "land line" phone service. The difference is that instead of using the telephone company's wires, your calls are routed over the internet. If you have broadband (high speed) internet service, you can use internet phone service.

VAIO

Internet phone service costs only a fraction of what regular phone service costs, which is why millions of people have already made the switch. Most VoIP plans provide you with unlimited local and long distance calling within the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico for less than a month. Some VoIP providers offer an annual "prepaid" plan that costs around 9 a year - this is the best value for the money. Most VoIP providers give you tons of free calling features like call waiting, call forwarding, caller ID, voicemail and more. Most people who switch to VoIP save an average of 0 a year on their phone bill.

How to Install VoIP Internet Phone Service in Your Home

How to Install VoIP Internet Phone Service

Once you have decided on a VoIP service provider (there are many to choose from), sign up for service on their website. In a week or so, you will receive a VoIP adapter (also known as an ATA) in the mail. This is the device that serves as the "brains" of your internet phone system.

When your VoIP adapter arrives, follow the easy instructions to attach it to your broadband modem/router as well as to your telephone and computer. There are no tools required, and there is no software to install. You may need a flashlight to see all the connection ports, especially if your computer and modem are located underneath a desk (as mine is).

After the cable connections are made, dial the special "activation" phone number that came with your VoIP adapter. You will need to enter an activation code, which was probably sent to you via email when you signed up for the service. Once this process is complete, you are ready to start using your VoIP phone!

How to Use Multiple Phones with Your VoIP Service

Since your VoIP adapter is designed to connect to one telephone only, an easy way to use internet phone service on all the phones in your house is to use a cordless expandable phone system. Buy a system that includes the total number of phones you want, and attach the base phone to your VoIP adapter. Then place the cordless handsets anywhere in the house you want. Since internet phone service does not rely on telephone wires, you don't need to plug the phones into wall phone jacks. All that is required is an electrical outlet to supply power to the cordless expansion phones!

How to Set Up Features on your Internet Phone Service

VoIP typically comes with a ton of free features that you can turn on or off as you wish. The easiest way to manage the way your phone works is to go to your VoIP provider's website and logon to your account. You will then have access to every feature available with your service. You can turn on caller ID, activate voicemail to email functionality, block international calling, etc... You can manage every aspect of your phone service from the web when you have VoIP service. You can also manage features from your VoIP phone by following the instructions that came with your VoIP adapter.

Keeping Your E911 Address Updated

A really important thing to remember is that VoIP uses a system called E911 for emergency calls. E911 lets emergency operators know your physical location. This information is obtained from the address you have on record at your VoIP provider. In order for E911 to accurately reflect your address, you need to be sure to update it using online account management if you move.

VoIP phone service is quick and easy to install, and the features are easily managed using the online account management access tools. Once you have your VoIP service up and running, wait a week or so before disconnecting your land line phone service. You want to make sure you are comfortable with the VoIP service and that the call quality is acceptable. If you have a problem with voice quality, ask your internet service provider to check your broadband connection. Most VoIP quality issues are related to the internet connection.

Sony's 3D LED TV and 3D Blu-Ray Player 2012 Line-Up

New 3D LED TV releases for 2012 sees the launch of the latest Sony Flagship HX850 model. Released as the HX850 and HX750, both models are the latest in Smart TV's and offer built in custom features, including Wi-Fi, allowing Skype access from television, although a camera is not included, however, through using the latest technology on your smart phone you can access your television via your smart phone.

As befits a Sony flagship model, both the HX850 and HX750 have the latest X-reality chips installed, which, according to Sony offer a cleaner more improved picture quality in the 2D to 3D upscaling. Both this year's 3D LED TV models come with new and improved Motionflow technology and you'll find the same monolithic design with both these models, this year featuring Corning Gorilla Glass and OptiContrast Panel technology. Upon purchase, customers will also receive two pairs of 3D glasses made of super-lightweight titanium.

Sony

Due for release as 40 inch, 46 inch and 55 inch versions, the latest release of Sony 3D LED TV's are going to be a winner. To compliment the release of the Sony flagship HX 850 model, comes the very latest series of 3D Blu-Ray players. The Sony BDP-S790, BDP-S590 and the BDP-S390 are the new 'smart' Blu-Ray players which provide the ultimate experience from your 'smart' TV. As with the Sony flagship HX850 model, the Sony BDP-S790, BDP-S590 and BDP-S390 all feature WiFi support and offer the user the opportunity to browse Twitter, Pandora, Hulu and Facebook with Skype once again fitted as standard. What's most special about the flagship BDP-S790 model from Sony is the ability to convert your old content to 4K video. You will need a HDTV offering 4K support to enjoy the new available content, but if you want a Blu-Ray player ready for the future this year, the BDP-S790 seems like a perfect candidate for the job.

Sony's 3D LED TV and 3D Blu-Ray Player 2012 Line-Up

With Sony due to release prices later this month, the main difference between the Sony S790 and the Sony S390 is that the BDP-S390 version does not support 3D. With that in mind, if you are considering purchasing the Sony flagship HX850 model TV, it may well be worth adding the Sony BDP-S790 model 3D Blu-Ray Player as an extra, rather than, what will be the slightly cheaper, BDP-S390 model. After all, there may be little point in enjoying an enhanced 2D to 3D upscaling TV if you do not have a 3D Blu-Ray Player to play your favourite films on.

Sony has made a lasting impression at this year's CES in Las Vegas with these new models to take on the market in the Spring, so there's really no doubt that the new 2012 line-up from the company will be a success.

Sony's 3D LED TV and 3D Blu-Ray Player 2012 Line-Up

New Laptop Technology You Need To Know (Before Buying Your Next Laptop)

Laptop or notebook computer technology is advancing at
a blistering speed. Ferrari fast. So fast that by the time
you purchase your new laptop, it's probably already
obsolete or out of date. A sobering thought considering
the hefty prices you have to pay for a high-end laptop.

But laptop technology is changing so fast new innovations
are coming on stream as you read this article. There is a
whole new generation of notebook technology every two years
or less. Therefore, unless you buy or upgrade your laptop
each year you're falling behind what these sleek little
powerhouses can now deliver.

VAIO

And unless you're already in Geek Heaven, keeping track
of all these new technologies and innovations can be
quite a chore. Figuring out the right Graphics chipset
that works best with the right CPU and the best Data buses
is a major feat. And now that everything is being
Doubled -- dual core, dual graphics -- it's entering
the realm where Einstein would be amused, even on a
bad hair day!

New Laptop Technology You Need To Know (Before Buying Your Next Laptop)

What's the ordinary laptop buyer to do?

What you really have to keep in mind are the outcomes
of all this new technology. Basically, these new
technologies have made laptops smaller, faster and more
powerful. With every new improvement the laptop is closing
the gap between its main rival -- the desktop computer.

Notebook computers are now out-selling desktops for
the first time in history. Laptops are replacing the
old desktop computer, whose days may just be numbered.
It won't be long before laptops are also out-performing
them as well.

Some major computer makers are taking note of this
trend towards more powerful, smaller computers.
Even the desktop computer is morphing! Just look at
the sleek design of the new Apple iMac G5, gone is the
bulky tower, in its place is a well designed desktop
computer that's almost a laptop!

For the ordinary computer user keeping abreast of
all these new technologies and inventions can be a
major chore if you're considering buying a laptop
in the next little while. As you approach the smiling
salesperson in your favorite tech store, here's a
few bits of new notebook technology you might want
to have in your possession so you won't look like a
complete neophyte. Hey, where technology is concerned,
we have all been there, done that.

In order for you to tech-proof your next laptop
purchase, here's a quick run down of some recent
Notebook Developments:

Sonoma Chipset

The new Sonoma Platform, Intel's next-generation Centrino
Chipset is already on the market. Members of the Sonoma
club are growing daily - Sony, IBM/Lenovo, BenQ, Dell,
Samsung, Acer, and Toshiba... another 80 or 90
'Sonoma-endowed' products will be released very shortly.

No doubt, it will become the Platform standard for many
high-end notebooks. Actually, it won't make or mean that
much difference to the ordinary Joe/Jane who just want a
notebook or laptop for web surfing, word processing and
e-mail. Notebooks with the Sonoma Platform will be just
a little bit faster and have a little better battery life.

But for Mobile Professionals and Notebook Fanatics (they
do exist)... there's a lot of good things delivered or
capable of being delivered with this new Centrino Chipset.
First, wireless connections will be easier with the integrated
tri-mode 802.11a/b/g, already dubbed by some as the
'wireless trinity'! This will make it easier to stay
connected no matter where you are.

Improved performance will be experienced because the
new Pentium M's have a 533MHz frontside bus, supported
with up to 2GB of DDR2 DRAM, Serial ATA Hard Drive, and
PCI Express, plus improved integrated graphics, including
Intel's Hi-Def Audio. All are possible with the Sonoma
Platform.

PCI Express

PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect) Express is a new
standard for expansion cards that comes in different
versions. Presently, we have the x16 and x1 lanes, which
will be followed by x4 and x8 versions. It offers increased
bandwidth for example, x1 lane offers 500MB/sec instead of
just 133MB/sec for PCI.

All computers, including laptops have different buses,
(collection of wires) that transmit data from one component
to another.

Of course, in an ideal world, all the data in your computer
should move through just one BUS - however, most experts agree
it's not likely to happen unless we start over and build a
computer system from scratch. For now we have to rely on
different internal buses to move the data around, the
PCI Express is a great improvement and will make your
laptop faster.

Graphics Card

These are always improving. A Graphics Card handles the
graphics or visuals on your notebook. If 3D graphics and
games is a pastime, you will want to buy the highest
quality system. Some of the higher end products are:
ATi Mobility Radeon 9800, X800, and FireGL V3200 or
Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 900.

If you can, go with a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 graphics
card or for the real game diehards - wait for the debut
of NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 that features NVIDIA's TurboCache
technology.

Gamers will be aware of NVIDIA SLI technology, ATI's
CrossFire and Hyperthreading. All new stuff that's
bringing the gaming experience up to a higher level of
perfection that would even be worthy of a Spielberg or
a Lucas Production. Not really, but it's getting there.

64 Bit Laptops

Most systems today run on the 32 Bit System. Keep in mind,
the major difference between a 32-bit and a 64-bit system
is the amount of memory that they support. Around 4 GB for
32-bit and 8 GB and up for the 64-bit. Right now -- Intel,
Apple, and AMD all offer 64-bit systems.

Do you need all this memory? No, for the average laptop
user it amounts to overkill. However, if you're interested
in gaming, desktop publishing, or the graphic arts you will
benefit from 64-bit technology.

Dual Core Notebooks

Two is better than one!

Dual core laptops are now on the market. The gaming industry
is the starting point for many of these advanced systems.
For example, the British Laptop maker Rockdirect now produces
Xtreme 64, a gaming laptop with AMD's new dual core Athlon 64
X2 processor. This same laptop also sports the ATI Mobility
Radeon X800 XT graphics card that features 16 pixel pipelines,
an industry first for notebooks.

The major producers of dual-core chips are Intel and AMD.
The Intel dual-core processor has hyperthreading (HT), the
two cores are divided into four virtual CPU units. Is all this
needed? Again, if you're into heavy graphics or gaming, it's
something you should consider and explore further.

Built-in Cellular Modem

Most high-end laptops now come with an integrated
tri-mode 802.11a/b/g for wireless WI-FI connections.

Some recent models, like the Sony's New Ultra-Portable
VAIO VGN-T350P, are raising the bar; it has the world's
first 'Built-in Cellular Modem'. You can use your cell phone

The Avant-Garde: LumiLED Display

Be on the look-out for LED monitors in the near future.
The brightness, colors and backlighting technology in LED
monitors will be quite different from LCD displays.

Keep your eyes peeled.

On the Horizon:

19 or 20 Inch Laptop Screens

There is a rumor, only a rumor, that Dell is coming out
with a 19-inch laptop in early 2006. There is also buzz
that LG-Philips has a 20-inch LCD panel which could easily
be used by laptop makers if they want to explore this
market area. Andre the giant will be pleased!

mind when you're checking out your next laptop. Maybe,
just maybe, most of these won't already have been replaced
